Checking out Materials

How can I check out Library materials?

Bring your student ID card to the library desk along with the materials you would like to borrow. Note that reference material and current issues of magazines may not be checked out.

How long can I keep library books?

Length of time you can keep library materials varies by the type of material.

  • Circulating books can be kept for 3 weeks with the possibility of another 3 weeks if no one else has requested it.
  • Videos can be kept for 2 weeks, except at Institute of Production and Recording where all media is checked out for 1 week.
  • Reference materials may not be removed from the library.
  • Reserve items may be checked out for 2 hours.

How much are overdue fines?

If your material is overdue, you will receive a notice in your student email, and a hold is placed on your student account. If you return the materials in good condition, there are no overdue fines and the hold will be removed.

If your library materials are lost or damaged, we will charge your student account for replacing the item.
