This guide will help you get started with your research. The library can help you every step of the way.

Research Process:

  1. Make sure you understand the assignment and set a timeline for completing it. The Research Project Calculator can help you stay on track.
  2. Choose a topic and do some exploratory research (explore the topic)
  3. Create a Working Bibliography
  4. Create a Research Question - what do you want to know based on what you learned in step 2?
  5. Tentative Thesis - what is your best guess to the research question?
  6. Focused Research - find information to fill out your thesis.
  7. Evaluating Information
  8. Final Thesis (change your thesis to reflect what your paper is about) and Writing Help. Take a look at Writer's Reference Center database for more resources and tips on how to be a better writer.
