Broaden your search

Not enough search results? Need to broaden?

Try these tips:

Narrowing and Broadening your keywords

  • Broader - human
  • Broad - circulatory system
  • Narrow - heart
  • Narrower - cardiovascular disease

Concepts to drop to broaden your search:

  • Time
  • Place
  • Population
  • Viewpoint

For example: Say your topic is this:

The economic impact of the dust storms of the 1930’s on the farmers of the great plains.

However, when you search, you don't get any search results. You may need to broaden your search.

You don't need to drop all of the concepts at once. Here's an example if you were to drop all of the above concepts to narrow your search:

Time = 1930's
Place = great plains
Population = farmers
Viewpoint = economic

Then your topic would be: dust storms
