Research Tips for Searching the Internet
Tips:
- Your search terms (keywords) are important. Use trial and error. If you don't get the right results the first time, try being more specific or less specific.
- Use quotation marks to search for phrases. "Right to choose" as a phrase will return different results than searching those words individually.
- Try advanced searching. You may find that it's a useful way to narrow your results.
- Evaluate what you find. Is it reliable? Is it appropriate to use in a college-level paper?
- When you search the library databases, you're not searching the free web. The library pays for database and e-book content. Learn more about the difference between databases and the World Wide Web.
